I had to clean up the other day and thought it would be a good time to take a picture of my home workspace. It's not perfect, but it's where I get after it and it works for me.

Like I said- it's not perfect. Notice the books under the legs to make the table taller. Luckily, we have a huge, tall creative table at @rp3agency so I'm able to get my stand up on.

We recently had a QNA design team photo contest where we all went into Georgetown and snapped away in hopes of the winning shot. My initial thought was to get the coolest angle on the Key Bridge or something but that didn't feel quite right. I wanted something more rooted in concept and then I had an idea. About myself, really.

When visiting an environment, people naturally take photos of what they experience visually in hopes of holding on to that memory or the feeling(s) and emotions it evoked. However, I often chronicle a trip based on how I felt and believe it or not, the ground beneath my feet plays a role in that. I don't consider myself to be overly concerned with sensory adaptation by any means, but if I'm in dirty, trashy streets, this translates directly to my mood and I'll have a negative connotation with the experience. Conversely, the opposite is true.

In recognizing this about myself, I decided to sum up my afternoon by visually capturing the many textures beneath my feet from the coveted prime real estate of M street to the dirt down by the river. I can look at each of these shots and remember how I felt when I took each one. Georgetown (and the rest of DC for that matter) is filled with many different textures and I found this to be a very interesting "experiment." One I plan on doing in each city I visit. Perhaps a series will evolve from it. Who knows?

I doubt I'll win the photo competition (I think judges will reward more generously for those cool shots of the Key Bridge or a black and white of the line outside Georgetown Cupcake), but this experience is worth way more than the $100 cash money prize.
